AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player, plays as a striker for San Diego Wave FC (NWSL), which is the top level of women's soccer in United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team between 2018 and 2020 with Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. In the months following her graduation early from the University of California, Berkeley in the USA, where she played with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. She made her debut in professional football and was a part of the team's success in winning the league championship. Morgan was 22 years old at the time and the youngest member of the national team in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team finished second. She scored the match-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final match during the 2012 London Olympics. The 2012 season ended with 21 goals, 28 goals, and 28 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman who scored both 20 and 20 goals. She was the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to score 20 goals in a single season. Morgan was later awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year and was also a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in helping the United States winning their titles at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the FIFA Women's World Championships in 2019. She was named to both the Dream Team for both tournaments. In 2019, she won the Silver Boot.
